The Academy of Wine Business Research is an international society of academics and scholars who devote their research and thought leadership to economic, social and management issues of the global wine sector. The Wine Business Institute at SSU has been involved with the annual conference since its founding and previously hosted the gathering in 2005.
The conference brought together leading wine business researchers from Austria, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the U.S. for a deep dive into leading-edge ideas on how to build profitable and responsible wine businesses.
The conference theme was People, Performance & Passion: Evolving Research Perspectives.
The Wine Tourism Round Table session looked more closely at the wine tourism experience, focusing in particularly on the role of heritage and terroir to this experience, and the difference between 'Old World' and 'New World' wine regions.
