Sky News host Andrew Bolt says "Australia seems to now be run by and for panic merchants and hysterics" as panic sets in over a virus that "has not killed a single Australian through community transmission" this year.
"Today, the country that’s had not a single death this year from community transmission of this virus, the country that has given at least one vaccination shot to more than 70 per cent of the people in aged care centres where people were most likely to be killed, announced that it was cancelling the Australian Formula One Grand Prix," Mr Bolt said.
"But no, this is Australia. In fact, it was due to be held in Melbourne – the capital of Panicstan. And Victoria decreed that this race was far, far too dangerous - lethally dangerous to Australians.
"So Australia – even with another four months to get ready – is too scared to host a Formula One race that’s already been held this year in Bahrain, in the Middle East, and in Italy, which is again open to tourism if you’re fully vaccinated."
Mr Bolt said the racing category had also been held in Portugal, in Spain, in France, in the streets of Monaco, in Austria, and even Azerbaijan.
"But Australia says by November we can’t we won’t. We’re scared. Don’t come. Stay away. We’re not coming out from under the doona," he said.
