From Bad Aussee we descended on our tandem bicycle adventure to Hallstatt Austria and the Hallstatter See. Hallstatt is a beautiful ancient city founded on salt mining. It's quite the tourist trap so be prepared for the crowds. But still fun! We paid the 2 Euros to go into "Das Beinhaus" The Bone House. Spooky! Then we rode back past Bad Goisern and Bad Ischl (stopping for pastries at Cafe Zauner--a must!) and then along the Wolfgangsee and St. Gilgen over the mountain back to Salzburg for a very pleasant evening at the Hohensalzburg Festung (Salzburg Fortress).
