Timmelsjoch, also known as the Passo del Rombo, is one of those routes that should, in our opinion, be at the top of the list “must-see” of any tourist. The route is located in the Öztal Alps, separating northern Italy from Austria, revealing the Alps of North and South Tyrol. Picturesque, beautiful and still not very commercial. All of this makes the Timmelsjoch a pure pleasure for the eyes, spirit, and wheels. Amazing 44 turns at an altitude of more than 2500 meters.
The long, picturesque route, running through the Alps, makes a really amazing impression. Surely it is one of the nicer ones we have driven so far and we are sure that none of you will regret the money spent on the trip. The surface is great on the Austrian side, a little bit worse on the Italian side, really cool, quite wide corners and the majestic Alps around – nothing more is needed to be happy. A huge advantage of Timmelsjoch, also called the Passo del Rombo, is that it has not yet become a pilgrimage center like Stelvio Pass. Although we were in the middle of August, the traffic on the route was decent, we suspect it will be negligible on other dates. If you are still wondering if it is worth it, you shouldn’t.
