Bratislava a hidden gem of Slovakia & Europe.
Bratislava formerly Preßburg is the capital and largest city of Slovakia. Officially, the population of the city is about 430,000.
Slovakia Slovak: Slovensko is a landlocked country in Central Europe.
It is bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the west, and the Czech Republic to the northwest. Slovakia's mostly mountainous territory spans about 49,000 square kilometres (19,000 sq mi), with a population of over 5.4 million.
Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia at the foot of Little Carpathians, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava.
Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two sovereign states.
Today Bratislava is the political, cultural and economic centre of Slovakia.

The Slovak National Uprising was an armed insurrection organized by the Slovak resistance movement during World War II. This resistance movement was represented mainly by the members of the Democratic Party, but also by social democrats and Communists,
This square also witnessed the big demonstrations during the Velvet Revolution. It was a non-violent transition of power in what was then Czechoslovakia, occurring from 17 November to 29 December 1989.
Popular demonstrations against the one-party government of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia included students and older dissidents.
The result was the end of 41 years of one-party rule in Czechoslovakia, and the subsequent dismantling of the command economy and conversion to a parliamentary republic
