Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane will lead to a “golden age” for the Sunshine State.

On Wednesday, Ms Palaszczuk attended the Future Brisbane luncheon, where she took part in a panel discussion about how the state will prepare for the 2032 Olympics.

The event was hosted by Sky News Australia's Queensland Editor and The Courier-Mail columnist Peter Gleeson.

“There is going to be a decade of opportunity and a decade after,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“So you talk about legacy and impact, it's not just about the South East, it’s not just about the competition, it’s about how we set Queensland up for the golden age.

“These are incredible opportunities that come along once in a lifetime, and out there, in our schools now, are children swimming that extra lap, running that extra lap around the oval, dreaming that they could one day participate in a local home-grown Olympics.”
