In 2015, the Austrian Archaeological Institute excavated three tabernae along one of the main streets of the ancient city of Ephesos. The rooms functioned as locations for trade and business enterprises as well as taverns.
In the early 7th century CE a fire destroyed the building and ended its use. The large quantity of find materials and the good state of preservation of the contexts made it possible to reconstruct the structures and to visualize them as part of the short film: “Ergo bibamus! Daily life in a late antique taberna in Ephesos“.
