We visited Europe a number of times in spring, summer and autumn, but never in winter. This time we decided to visit it in winter, specially, during Christmas market. After visiting Vienna, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Konigsee, Innsbruck, Swarovski Crystal World, St. Gallen, Gossau, Schwagalp, Santis, Appenzell, Fussen, Hohenschwangau, the most beautiful Castle Neuschwanstein Castle, and Munich in Germany.
After visiting Munich, we went to Prague by bus through beautiful snow-filled landscapes of German and Czech Republic. With Prague as centre, we visited Dresden in Germany.
Dresden is the capital city of the German state of Saxony and its second most populous city after Leipzig. Dresden is the second largest city on the River Elbe after Hamburg. Most of the city's population lives in the Elbe Valley. Dresden is one of the most visited cities in Germany with 4.7 million overnight stays per year. Its most prominent building is the Frauenkirche located at the Neumarkt. Other famous landmarks include the Zwinger, the Semperoper and the Dresden Castle. Dresden's Striezelmarkt is one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany and is considered the first genuine Christmas market in the world. The rooms and art collections spanning a period that begins with the Renaissance, and extends via the early Baroque and Rococo epochs to Neoclassicism, bear witness to the discriminating taste and the political ambition of the Wittelsbach dynasty.
Today we are presenting Dresden and its Christmas markets in winter..
