"Lost Places" ambiance deluxe in the finest arthouse style: a team of skiers and snowboarders armed with shovels and cameras ventures into the ruins of alpine winter sports. They discover the architecture and infrastructure of abandoned ski resorts and the landscapes in which these facilities were left behind. Thanks to Richard Buchner's expressive visuals and minimalist commentary, various interpretations are possible.

This can lead to associations with climate change, environmental pollution, and capitalist machinations. It also serves as a parody of the sustainability of alpine winter tourism, as young people appropriate the places where this tourism has already failed—through sustainable means like ski touring, urban skiing, and art. Alternatively, one can view "Projection" simply as a somewhat different freeride film, produced without financial support from sponsors.
