There is a community of Filipinos in Samar who have a deep connection with the caves they live nearby...

Welcome to Basey, Samar! But before we head there, we start in Tacloban City with the DOST, UNDP, and various government agencies and university researchers. This is another "GRIND" (Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development) Program adventure, that myself and Kumar are super proud to be a part of. In this video, we start at Leyte Normal University, learning a little bit about the campus, and doing a training for our "Salik Lakbay" adventure. From Tacloban, we head to Basey, and have the chance to interact with a community... In this case I find myself in a cave learning about "Defense Potions" and the connection locals have with the caves near their barangay.

We also have a chance to visit the Basiao Native Weavers Association, and learn about the "Tikog" grass weaving. Basey Samar is very famous for banigs, as well as other beautiful hand woven products...
