MilViz made their Red Bull P-38 available as a free download and it is very nice! (http://milviz.com/flight/products/P38RB/index.php) The real aircraft is formerly Lefty Gardner's racing P-38 "White Lightnin'" but was sold after a smoke in cockpit event, crash landing, and fire. (http://p38assn.org/white-light.htm) It was sold to the Flying Bulls of Austria and is now the beautifully-restored Red Bull P-38.
I have the MilViz military P-38L but hadn't pulled down the Red Bull version. Tried it out today and am very impressed! Brakes are a bit touchy on my setup so the nose tends to hunt a bit when taxiing. It's also very sleek and doesn't slow down very quick when you pull power. She takes a little getting used to. But excellent attention to detail and at the low, low cost of a free download, it's hard to go wrong. It's even got a nose wheel for those who get out of the cockpit and have a look. The civilian version is even better for FSX in some ways since it has a full GPS and the cockpit is updated to modern standards.
Don't let the wide angle distortion fool you in the external shots. When I go exterior the wings do not look very short but to me like in this video. She has a full wingspan and looks very impressive! The polished metal is beautifully rendered in this MilViz version of the P-38 and the clouds reflecting off her really pop!
As always, FSX:SE, FlyInside-FSX, OBS to record, and the HTC Vive to put me in the cockpit.
Beauty! ;-)
