Germany Opens Borders With EAA And Swiss Citizens

Germany opens borders for EEA and Swiss tourists from 15th June 2020 after lockdown and travel restrictions were imposed due to COVID-19

Germany Plans to Open Borders for EEA Citizens from June 15

The German government is planning to open its borders to the nationals of the European Economic Area and Switzerland on June 15, if the Coronavirus-related situation keeps improving, and does not deteriorate in the meantime

Additionally, the German government intends to end a warning for its citizens on travel to these countries.

The entry ban and the travel warning have been in place since March.

The nationals of the rest of the 26 European Union member states, UK citizens, as well as citizens of the Schengen Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland who wish to enter Germany for non-essential purposes will benefit from the removal of the ban by June 15

Germany was hoping to ease a travel warning on all tourist trips abroad that is in place until June 15.

Foreign Minister Heiko Maas had decided that the border controls with France, Austria and Switzerland, and airside borders with Italy and Spain will end on June 15, 2020.

Within the last days, several EU and Schengen member states have announced they would be opening their borders to the nationals of other fellow member states for non-essential entry
