Hallstatt is a small town in Austria located in the beautiful Dachstein mountain range. On the one hand, it is surrounded by the emerald lake of the same name, and on the other, it is protected by the green slopes of the mountains. It seems that such a fantastic place in the world does not exist - it's just a figment of the imagination. Hallstatt is straight from the past, where you can still go down into the salt mine, and the church houses the skulls of local residents buried according to ancient custom. In this city, you don't want to rush anywhere. Time flies here unnoticed, and clean air and breathtaking views simply make you silently enjoy the real-life Elysium.
The small size and incredible nature of Hallstatt transform it into one big wonder of the world, where you want to completely surrender to peace, walking along the cobbled streets near the crystal clear lake and the highest mountains. Interesting architecture of houses, gothic churches and a lot of greenery are the main advantage of the city. And the salt mines that have been preserved since the Neolithic and the ancient cemetery are immersed in such a unique and inimitable Hallstatt culture.
Tiny Hallstatt has 779 inhabitants. Due to its great popularity, it is visited by more than a million visitors a year. Hallstatt proudly bears the title of the oldest village in Europe.
