President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has warned UPND leaders to refrain from agitating party youths to take over the running of markets and Bus stations.

President HICHILEMA says running of markets and bus stations should be left to the local authorities.

Addressing a Press Conference at State House this afternoon, President HICHILEMA said the councils should take charge of revenue collection, management and policing of the public places.

He advised UPND youths to stay away from markets saying they should be patient as he works on creating jobs for them while warning party leaders not to be caught on the wrong side of the law.

And President HICHILEMA said his administration is working hard to turn around the economy to create jobs for the masses and uphold his campaign promises.

He said this can only be made possible through attraction of investors in different sectors of the economy which is key to creating jobs and opportunities for SMEs to supply goods and services.

The President said the creation of the Ministry for SMEs is aimed at helping locals tap into available opportunities.

President HICHILEMA said his recent trip to the US to attend the United Nations General Assembly also allowed him to engage various investors interested in agriculture, tourism and mining among others.

He however said all these investors will have to respect Zambian laws and venture into partnerships with local business people.

The Head of State adds that he also met with Presidents of Austria and DRC to establish and reaffirm trade.

He further noted that trade between Zambia and the DRC should be formalized and end talk of smuggling because of the vast export opportunities in that country.

And President HICHILEMA said his meeting with US Vice President KAMALA HARRIS was fruitful with a lot of commitment made towards enhancing ties between the two countries.

He added that meetings with Administrators of the USAID also saw a 30-million dollar commitment made to Zambia which was based on his team's presentation.

Meanwhile President HICHILEMA said the Auditor General's Report will now be handed over to the Prosecutions Authority for people found pilfering public funds to be dealt with.

The President said he wants to make stealing of public funds uncomfortable and will deal with all those found wanting.

He warned those who want jobs in government with the view of getting rich to search their souls as this will not happen.

The President also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring financial prudence as seen from his lean delegation to the US.

On the Presidential Gulfstream, the President said it was bought at an astronomical cost to the tax payer.
