Hohensalzburg (also Hohensalzburg, German: Hohensalzburg) is one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe. Located on top of Festung Mountain near Salzburg, Austria, at an altitude of 120 meters. Salzburg Fortress is one of the largest surviving medieval fortresses in Europe. The area of the fortress - 30 thousand square meters (up to 250 m long and 150 m wide). You can reach the fortress either by cable car from the Old Town or on foot.
