Kitzbuhel ski resort is part of Tyrol region. This mega resort considered one of the
most perfect places to ski in Austria.
Just like many other mega resorts, Kitzbuhel interlinked with the resorts nearby: Kirchberg to the west and extends south through Jochberg into the Salzburg state at Hollersbach im Pinzgau.
Kitzbuhel is famous in the winter-sports world for being the place for the Hahnenkamm races, from the first appearance in 1931 and by now on the annual Alpine World Cup competitions circuit.

How to get to Kitzbuhel?

The closest airports to Kitzbuhel are Salzburg and Innsbruck Airports with transfer time of 1 hour and 15 minutes and Munich Airport with transfer time of 2 hours.
If you are coming by train, Kitzbuhel has its own train station, and postbus picks up passengers from there every 15 minutes.
From Munich airport you can take a train directly form the terminal
Kitzbuhel has an amazingly long ski season beginning in mid-October and last to early May.

As for the slopes, Kitzbuhel local area divided by two sides. the Kitzbuheler Horn to the north-east,
(pause- area ski sequence) and the main Hahnenkamm-Pengelstein-Resterhohe linked ski area to the south-west.
With most of the terrain below tree line the resort has invested heavily in snow cannons
The ski area of Kitzbuhel, spans from 800 meters above sea level to 2000 meter above sea level.
The ski area of Kitzbuhel has 192 kilometers of ski runs. Served by 58 state of the art lifts only the Austrian makes.
Overall there are 17 black runs, 32 red runs, and 45 blue runs, in the ski area of Kitzbuhel.
add to that 42 km of ski routes.

Experst can enjoy the 20 km of groomed black runs including the Streif downhill racing course infamous as the most dangerous downhill slopes in the world cup cuircuit,
Kitzbuhel has an ocean of off piste to explore when the snow condition allows it. the best snow can be reached in the highest point above Pass Thurn, and there is also the wonderful Giggling run, aka route 33 which start at Steinbergkogel area and end near Hechenmoos bus station, at the village of Aurach.
Freestylers are up for a treat, Snowpark Kitzbuhel contains area for all levels from beginners to pro. There is also park at Kitzbuheler Horn. No half pipe and now airbag though, in both.




When you are asking yourself where to stay? If you want to be in the center of attention the town of Kitzbuhel is the place to stay with a vibrant atmosphere and great variety of accommodation.
To the west is Kirchberg in Tirol and to the south Jochberg, both relatively quieter towns with a good access to Kitzbuhel ski area, and cheaper prices.
You can travel from Kirchberg or Jochberg to Kitzbuhel via Ski bus all day, the bus leave in intervals of 15 minutes at rush hours. from Kirchberg, first skibus arrive to Hahnenkamm Bahn
at 09:07 and the last one leaves at 18:24 from there.
From Jochberg, the first skibus arrive to Hahnenkamm Bahn at 08:20 and the last one leaves the gondola at 17:00.
After that, you can get a taxi price is 21€ to 25€ to Kirchberg and 25 to 31 euros to Jochberg.
Kitzbuhel center of town is a charming medieval quarter decorated with delicate painted frescoes, rightly deserves its reputation as the most beautiful ski town in Austria. The center is big magical pedestrian area sorounded with restaurants and luxurious boutiques and designer clothes.

When the sun goes down, the old mining town awakes and the apres ski bars and pubs overflow the town with a cheerful atmosphere lasting deep into the night.


Regarding apres ski,
we recommend you pop over The Mocking stube on your skiing back to village.
It is located at end of slopes of the Hahnenkamm and it is great place to relax with a beer before heading to town.

The Londoner or spoho apres ski which have quite wild parties, on the other side of the street,
or O’Flannigans Irish pub if you look for a sport bar.



Kitzbuhel offer many other attractions from tobogganing, ice skating, cross country ski and many other winter attractions, like nightskiing in gaisberg lift in kirchberg

Our tip for kitzbuhel,
you can add only 6 euros in high season and 31 euros in basic season for 6 days skipass and get the Kitzbuheler alpen skicard and then enjoy the skiwelt with it’s 280 connected ski runs, which is a short skibus drive to ki -west gondola, south of Kirchberg.
when you finish your skiwelt day, you can ski back a short walk to brixen train station, which has train every 30 minutes to Kitzbuhel for a 20 minutes ride.
