Klagenfurt (full name Klagenfurt am Wörthersee) is the provincial capital of Carinthia in Austria, is located on the east shore of the alpine lake Wörthersee. It is close to the border of Slovenia and easily reachable from other parts of Austria, and Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy. According to legend, the city was founded at the place where brave men killed a winged dragon that lived in the moors next to the lake. A majestic sculpture, shown at the cover image of this video, adorns the Lindwurm-fountain in the city center which became the new emblem of the city. Join us on the tour of Klagenfurt to see the charming town, Neuer Platz, narrow streets around Alter Platz, with its yellow 17th-century Old Town Hall, Lindworm fountain, Landhaus, Palace of the Estates, now the seat of the State Assembly, the Baroque cathedral, built by the then Protestant Estates of Carinthia, interesting and relaxed people (as of January 2020, there were 101,403 people), the dragon, churches, shopping, the Lake Worthersee, the warmest of the large Alpine lakes, with Europe's largest non-sea beach and lido taking 12,000 bathers on a summer day, and famous Karawanks Tunnel long 7,864 m (25,801 ft), connecting Austria and Slovenia.
