Venice is a city in Sarasota County, FL. 70 Miles south of Tampa.
The city includes what locals call "Venice Island", a portion of the mainland that is accessed via bridges over the artificially created Intracoastal Waterway that the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Railroad Union designed in the 1920’s to create a destination city on the Florida West Coast.
