Due to Covid first of all getting me and then the French shutting us out of France (in order to travel by Eurotunnel to France) which stopped us from being able to drive to Austria. My mum and brother finally drove to Austria after the French opened the border again to UK citizens and I joined them a few days later by train. It was a bit of a trip. I went by train from Dusseldorf to Munich. Got off the train there to get the train to Salzburg. Realised I had left my suitcase on the first train. Went back to the platform to try and retrieve it just as the train was leaving to go to the depot. After screaming about that, I then went on to get my train to only find that it had been cancelled, so I had to wait another hour. I got on that train and then half-way to Salzburg we were all told we had to get off. We stood around in a cold station in the middle of nowhere to be told that we would continue on by bus. The bus collected us and then drove us to a train station a km or so from the Austrian border. The driver then told us that we could get a train from there to continue our trip. The next train wasn't for another 50 minutes, so my mum who had been waiting all this time in Salzburg, drove over the border to collect me. WHAT A TRIP! But it was well worth it for the few days I had in Austria.
