My first day in country #103: Liechtenstein ???????? It is not just landlocked but double landlocked, because it is between Austria and Switzerland who are also landlocked. I have always wanted to visit here especially after hearing about it in A Knight's Tale, when Heath Ledger's character, William Thatcher, adopts the fake persona of Sir Ulrich von Liechtenstein of Gelderland to compete in jousting tournaments. In Vaduz, we wandered through the old town with our guide, Leander Schidler, who brought the layers of this country to life—past the Rathaus Town hall, the Visitor Center, and through spaces that balance history and modern identity so seamlessly. The striking Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein anchors the contemporary side, while the Liechtenstein National Museum quietly reminds you: “Small country, great stories.” And they mean it. Just 41,000 people. 11 villages. We walked to dinner at Gasthof Au and back to our hotel Vaduzerhof which was once the parliament building. We can see the castle and the snow covered mountains. I cannot wait to see more! ✨#liechtenstein @fuerstentumliechtenstein
