Neuschwanstein is the most visited castle in Germany, and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The castle is visited by 1.4 million people every year, and tickets are usually sold out, so proper planning is essential to an enjoyable experience. Before you head to Hohenschwangau, there are a few things you need to know. In this video we give you a number of tips so you can make the most out of your visit.
The Neuschwanstein Castle is located on a hill above the village of Hohenschwangau, in southwest Bavaria, Germany, just a couple of kilometers from the border with Austria.
Neuschwanstein is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace commissioned by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria, also known as the “Fairytale King”. Construction began in 1869 and continues to date (expect to see construction work).
The fairytale look of the Neuschwanstein Castle inspired Walt Disney to create the Magic Kingdom Cinderella Castle.
