Europe's new Covid strain has drawn thousands of anti-lockdown activists to York, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Despite being found in 38 countries, no one has perished from the new super mutant Omicron Covid variety, the WHO reports. But international leaders have taken further steps, including significant penalties, to boost vaccination rates.
Unvaccinated persons who break Austria's lockdown laws until December 11 risk penalties of up to €500. Refusal to comply with vaccination checks might result in a €1,450 punishment. Thousands rallied against public life restrictions in Vienna on Saturday.
