Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Crossed by the Miljacka river, the city is part of the canton of Sarajevo, one of the ten of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sarajevo is the political, financial, social and cultural center of Bosnia and Herzegovina with regional influence in entertainment, media, fashion and the arts.

Due to its long history of religious and cultural diversity, Sarajevo is sometimes called the “Jerusalem of Europe” as the four major religions live together in harmony within a radius of 150m.

It is one of the only major European cities to have a Catholic Church, an Orthodox Church, a Synagogue and a Mosque in the same neighborhood.

The city is considered one of the most important cities in the Balkans and its history is particularly rich since its creation by the Ottomans in 1461. The city was the scene of the assassination by Gavrilo Princip of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, which marked the beginning of the First World War.
