Date of Travel : September 2019
St. Johann is located in the Pongau district south of Salzburg in the Salzach Valley of the Eastern Alps which was once an ancient copper mining area. St. Johann is one of the towns which has been settled since at least the Bronze Age. It is the administrative centre of the district where it is the seat of numerous institutions and offices, such as the district commission, the taxation office, and the district court.
To date, this charming town is among the well-known entry points to experience Alpine skiing in winter and hiking in summer unfortunately due to the bad weather when I visited, I wasn’t able to explore the mountain landscape.
