한국인들 올 여름 휴가 어떻게 보낼까?
Hello and welcome.
You're watching Issues and Insiders for this Thursday afternoon August First here in Korea.
I'm Min Sunhee.
The peak summer holiday period here in the country dates from late July to early August.
That being said today we delve into Korea's travel trends this season.
For this I have Professor Shin Hak-seung at Hanyang University.
Professor Shin it's pleasure to speak with you again.
I also have Chris Tharp a travel writer based in Busan.
Chris it's been a while.
Welcome back.
1) Chris, what do you believe is the travel trend of Koreans this summer holiday?
2) Professor Shin, concerns regarding overpricing practices remain rampant here in Korea.
How severe is this situation?
3) Chris, there have also been quite a number of reports about excessive prices at tourist destinations beyond borders.
What do you suppose can be done to discourage such practices?
4) Professor Shin, what measures do you propose to tackle overpricing practices?
5) Chris, a British travel magazine recently selected Korea as an appealing travel destination.
First, do tell us a bit about this selection, and what are your thoughts?
6) Chris, on the topic of travel overseas.
According to the Henley Passport Power Index, the Korean passport ranks third worldwide.
Now, the ranking differs depending on the entity that conducts the research.
Generally speaking, how is a passport power measured?
7) And Professor Shin, beyond simple convenience, what are the broader implications of passport power?
8) Meanwhile Professor Shin, the fiasco involving e-commerce platforms TMON and WeMakePrice is seen to have affected summer travel plans for many here in the country.
What are your thoughts?
9) Chris, let's end with your suggestions for summer travel here in Korea this year for foreigners and locals alike.
All right.
