On March 5, Switzerland reported its first COVID-19 death. Officials said the 74-year-old woman in Lausanne was a high-risk patient suffering from a chronic disease. Switzerland has reported at least 58 infections since its first case surfaced in late February. The government said the virus has infected mostly young people, but that they were likely to pass it on to older ones. Events that would see the gathering of over 1,000 people have been banned.
