The ruined castle is about 150 meters long and was built on the 12th century. Similar to other architectural works in those times, it is situated on a bedrock, 480 meters above sea level, at the right bank of the Danube in Wachau, Austria. The castle is located within the municipality of Schönbühel-Aggsbach in the Melk District of Lower Austria. The castle was owned by the Kuenring family of Aggsbac, Gansbach in 1181. Although it was built on the top of a narrow ridge, the ruined castle is accessible by car and offers breathtaking landscapes of the Wachau.
