Hallstatt’s UNESCO-recognized salt mines, date to prehistoric times, possibly even to 4000 B.C.
Now it is one of the most visited villages, attracting visitors to the dramatic mountain scenery, ancient architecture and mirror lake.

It gets crowded, mostly with tourism and cameras. Get there early if you wish to enjoy the spirit of this town..
