This was our first visit to Vienna and we found the city to be absolutely stunning. We spent the morning exploring as many highlights as we could on foot, then returned to our ship - hopped on bicycles and spent the afternoon riding up and down the Danube. The swans!???? A quick dinner then back into the city for a wonderful concert. What an absolutely perfect day. We sailed a short distance overnight and woke up docked below the quaint historic town of Durnstein. The village is surrounded by mature vineyards and from the moment we walked through the ancient gates we felt like we took a step back in time. The picturesque blue cathedral, dozens of cozy shops, beautifully maintained historical storefronts, flowers everywhere, and perched high above the town is the castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned almost 1,000 years ago at the end of the Crusades. Truly a memorable and cherished visit.
