(6 Nov 2020) A 33-metre-tall Christmas tree, which arrived in Vienna on Thursday as a gift from Upper Austria, has been hailed as a "sign of optimism" during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and after Monday's deadly attack.
Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig said the tree was "probably the tallest" in Vienna's history and would serve as "a beautiful sign of optimism, of the positive mood in our city and also for the faith in our democratic society."
Dozens of workers and two cranes worked for over 40 minutes to erect it.
