Welcome to Vienna Kärntner Straße. Many of you know the Kärntner Straße, while others don't know anything about it yet. That's why I want to tell you a little bit about this street. Along with Graben, Kärntner Straße is one of the most well-known streets in Vienna. The Kärntner Straße already existed in Roman times. In the Wilhelminian period and in the late 19th century it was widened and often heavily rebuilt. Representative department stores emerged. During the World War in 1945, Kärntner Straße was badly damaged. In 1974, the Kärntner Strasse between the Opera and Stephansplatz was transformed into a pedestrian zone.
Now the Kärntner Strasse shines in the Christmas splendor. The general lighting period is likely to take place between November 18, 2022 and January 8, 2023.
