Welcome to Vienna Hietzing!
Really autumnal today with high humidity, clouds and light fog.
Hietzing is the name of Vienna's 13th district, which lies to the west and is known for Schönbrunn, beautiful buildings and a high quality of life. Also because the Wienerwald is around the corner and borders on the 13th district. Hietzing offers local shopping experiences as well as relaxation in the numerous green park areas. Hietzing has around 54,000 inhabitants and with an area of 37.69 km², it is the third largest district in Vienna. Hietzing takes up 9.2% of Vienna's area. The name Hietzing is derived from "Hiezo" or "Hezzo" (short form of "Heinrich"). The first documented mention dates back to 1130. The average age of the Hietzinger population in 2001 was significantly higher than the Vienna average. The basis for this is the high density of pensioners' residential buildings, the large nursing home in Lainz and a very small proportion of foreigners.
