We set out to conquer the summit of Ebner Joch on a breathtaking, sunny March day in Tirol. The journey began like a dream, following a picturesque stream through the forest, with the snow getting deeper and more magical with every step.

After completing about two-thirds of the trail, we hit a wall. The snow conditions became unpredictable: the frozen crust would hold our weight for one step, then let us sink hip-deep the next. It was exhausting and, more importantly, risky.

For our own safety, we made the difficult call to turn back before reaching the summit. In the mountains, your ego should never override your intuition. I highly recommend every hiker to prioritize safety over the summit, the mountains will still be there tomorrow!
