Mira (German Myrafälle, or less often German Mirafälle) is a system of waterfalls located in a gorge in the Austrian municipality of Muggendorf in the state of Lower Austria, among the alpine mountains
The ravine with the waterfall is about 600 meters long; the height difference in it is about 70 meters.
A well-maintained and popular hiking trail passes through the gorge and we will follow it to Hausstein ( Alps spot)
On December 7, 1977, a postage stamp with a face value of 20.00 schillings (1.45 euros) was issued in Austria in the series "Landscapes of Austria", the design of which was inspired by the image of the "famous romantic" waterfalls: in particular, with the works of the artist Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller ( 1793-1865) and Friedrich Hauermann (1807-1862), who depicted the landscapes of the World in many of his paintings and thus "glorified" them. Already in those years, it was noted that the waterfalls were a popular destination for "countless" tourists who wanted to see the natural beauty as closely as possible.
