The stairway to heaven in Austria is known as one of the most dangerous hikes in the world. It's a shaky steel ladder between two sky high mountain peaks. More weight break the ladder. So only thee people are allowed to climb at a time. But even when there's only two people on the ladder, it gets shaky making the climb more difficult. The ladder was installed only a few years ago. However a 43 year-old British man fell 300m to his death in 2023. So, you shouldn't underestimate this hiking trail even if you have all the safety equipment.

The ladder is only the mid part of the main trek. Even if you successfully finish the climb on the ladder, the last part of the trail is crucial. The rocks are vertical and the path is narrow. To make things even worst there's heavy winds. So you have to be really careful if you don't like to use the word "death".
