BEYOGLU

Today, the district of Beyoglu is a residential area of ​​45 neighborhoods and approximately 225,000 inhabitants. As it is a business, entertainment and cultural center, the population of this district reaches several million during the day and night. According to some, Beyoglu is the region extending from Karaköy to Taksim. According to some, it consists of the section extending from Tunnel Square to Taksim.

Today, Beyoglu district of Istanbul province covers the area between the west of the Kasımpaşa valley to the north of the Golden Horn and the Dolmabahçe (Gazhane) valley, bounded by the Şişli and Beşiktaş districts. However, the name of Beyoglu among the people refers to the city's important cultural, entertainment and business centers which link Galatasaray to Taksim Square and the surrounding of Istiklal Street.

During the Byzantine period; In the last century, especially foreigners used the name Pera instead of Beyoglu. The Turks called Pera Beyoglu as a larger area.
