We spent the first two days of our vacation in Munich, Germany, where we stayed in a hotel in the old historic city center. Our hotel was only a few blocks from the Marienplatz (St. Mary’s Square) and Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) with its glockenspiel that tells the story of the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V to Renata of Lorraine. We got there just in time for the show. We then found a rickshaw tour that took us to a number of points of interest in Munich, including the Englischer Garten (English Garden) which is one of the largest city parks in the world. In the evening, we had beer at the famous Hofbräuhaus, which is a beer hall originally built in 1589 by Bavarian Duke Maximilian I.
