Join us for a magical evening! Tickets go on sale on 1/1/20 at (link to be posted soon). Early Bird tickets will be available this year at a cheaper price! Last year, we sold out several days before the main event, so we encourage you to purchase tickets early. The Viennese Ball is an exciting Stanford tradition featuring social dancing, live music, performances, and contests. It began on-campus in 1978 by students returning from the Stanford-in-Austria program, who were inspired by the vibrant midwinter balls in Vienna. Since then, the ball has blossomed into a magnificent formal affair, held this year at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame. This will be Stanford's 43rd Annual Viennese Ball!
**TRANSPORTATION: Event self-parking will available at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame for $5.
Free shuttles are also provided between Stanford campus and the hotel. This service is first come, first served. Shuttles are limited, and space is not guaranteed.
IMPORTANT: Please arrive early at the shuttle stop. Last year, people who arrived late expecting to take the last shuttle were unable to find seats. We will depart on time or as soon as the bus is filled.
Shuttle Stop: Tresidder Lot, behind the Faculty Club: 439 Lagunita Dr, Stanford, CA 94305
Outbound shuttles will start boarding at 6:30 PM at the Tresidder Parking Lot, and will leave as they fill until 7:00 PM. The last shuttle will leave at 7:00 PM, even if not full, to make the opening ceremony on time.
Return shuttles will leave the Hyatt Regency at 11:30 PM, 12:15 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:30 AM (one at each time, leaving once the line clears or the bus is full) and after the ball finishes at 2:10 AM (four shuttles, leaving as they fill). The shuttles will return to the Tresidder Parking Lot.
Note: The shuttles must remain alcohol-free. No alcohol is permitted onboard, and you will be denied entry to the Viennese Ball if you are visibly intoxicated. If you become ill on the bus, you will be subject to a cleaning fee of $500.
**ATTIRE: Black tie optional, tuxedos and suit jackets optional. No jeans. No high heels, unless they have suede bottoms for ballroom dancing. We recommend flat shoes for everyone.
Example outfits: collared, long-sleeve button-down shirt and tie with dress pants or slacks, a long gown, cocktail dress, or pantsuit.
**DANCE SHOES: Socks are perfectly acceptable, especially for beginners. If you wear high heels to the event, please exchange them for dance shoes or flats while dancing for safety's sake.
