52 Tunnels (Strada delle 52 Gallerie ). 52 tunnels is a spectacular hike on Monte Pasubio in the Italian Dolomites. The road was built by the Italian military during World War I in order to resupply their troops and defend against the Austrian Hungarian military. All along the roughly 7 km hike you will find signs in Italian, German and English that explain the situation in WWI and an overview of the campaign. The hike leads you through 52 tunnels carved out of the mountain and along a beautiful road with amazing views into the valleys and surrounding mountain peaks.
