Lienz is a medieval town in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is the administrative centre of the Lienz district, which covers all of East Tyrol. The municipality also includes the cadastral subdivision of Patriasdorf.
The Lienz Dolomites are an alpine mountain range located in East Tyrol and Carinthia, Austria. It lies at the western side of the wider Gailtal Alps and contains its highest peaks. The range lies between the Drau Valley in the north and the Gail Valley to the south
