The Capital of the Alps, as Innsbruck is often referred to, offers a unique combination: You can stroll through its streets full of imperial elegance and beautiful Baroque and Gothic architecture in the Old Town, and then take a cable car from the city centre and be at an altitude of 2,000 m in just 20 minutes. Even at first sight, when you arrive, this city and its setting amidst majestic peaks is breathtaking. But, it’s never intimidating: Innsbruck’s warm, friendly atmosphere – perhaps owing to its Southern influence – and its relaxing nature experiences and cosy surrounding villages will make you feel at home in no time. The city of Innsbruck is compact enough to be experienced on foot or by bike.

For skiers, Innsbruck is surrounded by 13 skiing resorts that guarantee groomed slopes from October to May. This includes Stubai glacier - the biggest glacier ski area of Austria, Kühtai - the highest ski village of Austria or the Olympic resorts Axamer Lizum and Patscherkofel. All accessible by a free ski bus service.
