Europe Trip June 2022 - Part 2 - Liechtenstein, Austria, & Germany

On June 8, 2022, we spent the morning and much of the early afternoon in and around Lucerne, Switzerland. The weather was good and the forecast for the late afternoon and evening wasn't good, so we didn't want to spend time driving while the weather was good to be outside.

We drove to the small country of Liechtenstein. Rhode Island is 17 times larger than this entire nation! We were only there for a short while, because the winds were really picking up and we could see the bad weather moving in. From there, we drove east to Austria. Our hotel was in the resort town of Seefeld, which is just outside of Innsbruck. We got there just before it got dark.

The next morning we had the best breakfast of our entire trip. The Mountains Resort hotel had this amazing buffet breakfast that was a total surprise and treat to us. Our original plan was to leave Seefeld and go directly to Innsbruck, but after looking at the map and seeing that we were less than 10 miles from the border with Germany, we made a side trip there. Just across the German border is the beautiful little Bavarian town of Mittenwald. It is known as one of the most scenic and charming towns in all of Bavaria, and we both absolutely loved it.

The rain held off for the most part while we walked around this cute little town. As soon as we got back in the car the skies opened up. It rained all the way to Innsbruck. We still stopped and walked around Innsbruck for a while. Miraculously, the rain stopped just long enough for us to explore the capital city of Tyrol along the Inn River. When we were done, we got back in the car, and made the 4+ hour drive to our next destination, Venice, Italy! That will be featured in the next video!
