Vienna is the home of the famous Sachertorte, a chocolate cake whose origins go back to the middle of the 19th century. However, the traditional recipe has been adapted - for the export to countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar. To satisfy Muslim customers, the entire production process must follow the strict halal rules. Before receiving the halal certificate, a comittee checks all samples coming from Austria to the Arab countries. For the Viennese bakers, this is progress in a world that is growing ever closer together.
