In 2020 we stayed at the Hotel Schafbergspitze on top of mount Schafberg in the Salzkammergut, the Austrian lake district. This video is the Free Walking Tour's review of the hotel at 1800 meters in altitude.

You will not only learn about my unbiased opinion but also about the price, the breakfast and two good reasons to stay at the Hotel Schafbergspitze.

The Austrian Lake District, Salzkammergut, is one of the best places, if not the best place to visit in the surroundings of Salzburg. To get to the top of mount Schafberg, you can either hike or take the steam train Schafbergbahn. Either way, you might want to consider staying at the hotel on top of Schafberg. The hotel is very reasonably priced while providing average comfort and friendliness but the real reason to stay at the hotel on top of mount Schafberg is to watch the sunrise and the sunset and enjoy Schafbergspitze, the top of Schafberg, without the crowds.
