I crossed into Slovenia on a whim during a 2025 road trip that started in Ostrava, Czechia—and I wasn’t ready for how stunning this country is. Nestled between Austria, Italy, Croatia, and Hungary, Slovenia is small—just over 2 million people live here—but it’s packed with natural beauty that honestly rivals Austria and Switzerland.

From the moment I entered from the north and drove toward Lake Bohinj, I was surrounded by towering Alps, crystal-clear lakes, and quiet roads with barely any tourists. Slovenia feels like a secret—clean, peaceful, affordable, and incredibly scenic.

I didn’t plan anything. No bookings. No itinerary. Just followed the road and ended up in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
