In June 2022 we traveled to Italy with our friends and acquaintances from church. Our journey began in Rome where we visited the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Vatican, and the Colosseum. From Rome we traveled north to Assisi where we saw the Basilica of St. Francis. The village of Assisi was beautiful to explore with incredible views. Next, we journeyed to Florence where we experienced artwork at the Accademia Gallery including Michelangelo’s David. From Florence we proceeded to Venice where we toured Doge’s Palace. We watched a demonstration of Murano Glass and went on a gondola ride through the colorful canals of Venice. Our journey continued from Venice through the Dolomite Mountains and the Austrian Alps to Salzburg in Austria. We traveled to the Eagle’s Nest and enjoyed the wonder panoramic views from the summit of the Kehlstein. We spent the rest of the day seeing the sights of Salzburg; the city of Mozart and the Sound of Music. We traveled next to Oberammergau Germany where we attended The Passion Play presented by the villagers of Oberammergau in keeping with their 389-year-old promise to perform this play every ten years. Finally, we ended our journey in Munich where we saw Nymphenburg Palace and Marienplatz, Munich’s central square since the year 1158. From Munich we returned home to the U.S.
