Welcome to Seestadt in Vienna (Austria). Seestadt, the large urban development area and a city of its own in the 22nd district (Donaustadt) of Vienna. Vienna is growing faster than almost any other city in Europe. And of course you need space for that. Space that is (still) available on the outskirts of Vienna. You either love Seestadt or you don't like it at all. There doesn't seem to be anything in between. On the one hand, it provides many residents in Vienna with an affordable apartment, on the other hand, there is a lack of shopping, culture and entertainment. Is that where the reputation of the ghost town comes from? See for yourself in this video and let me know how you like Seestadt. In any case, positive from my side is the low car traffic and the partly nice architecture. On the other hand, people like to criticize, especially in summer, that there are too few green spaces, trees and that urban lakeside is a hot heap of concrete. One thing is clear: although some buildings have been standing for several years, the development of Seestadt is only in the early stages.
