Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, alongside US Secretary of State John Kerry, and Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura, gave a joint press conference after a International Syria Support Group (ISSG) meeting at the Palais Niederoesterreich hotel in Vienna, Tuesday.

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "I believe that the main result of today's meeting is the full acknowledgment of the basis of our whole work which includes joint statements made by members of the International Syria Support Group, UN resolutions 2218, 2254, 2268. Today's declaration has confirmed all these agreements. The main value of our united position is that it includes all directions of our work, namely the cessation of the hostilities, the expansion of the humanitarian assistance and of course the political process. I'd like to stress that me've made progress in all three directions."

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "We should not forget that our joint position, backed by the UN Security Council, stipulates the inclusive approach to the intra-Syrian talks. We strongly believe that the exclusion of some people from the Geneva talks on Syria, in particular the opposition Kurdish Democratic Union Party, is wrong. We hope that those who oppose the inclusion of the Democratic Union Party in the negotiators list in Geneva will overcome their objections in the nearest future. Especially, paying attention to the fact that there is only one or two countries of such a kind."
