Hiking on the Semmering Railway Trail ???????? [J1 E9]

Second day in the Austrian Alps and I’m up early, as I begin the hike along the Semmering Railway Trail. I start off by exploring Semmering Railway Station, then continue past Kartnerkogel Viaduct, arriving at Wolfsbergkogel Railway Station and exploring this quiet station as well. I then come across the first viewpoint on the trail, Doppelreiter, which doesn’t disappoint with its breath-taking panorama. The famous 20-Schilling Viewpoint is next, and I get to admire yet another magnificent display of harmony between nature and human engineering. The day ends at Adlitzgraben Viaduct, which sits on the border between the municipalities of Semmering and Breitenstein. This beautiful, curved viaduct is a wonderful example of aesthetic engineering. Finally, I retrace my steps back to Semmering, concluding a wonderful day of hiking, trains and stunning views.
